In years past, people could search on www.webmd.com for free medical information, but there's an article about Steven Case, an entreprenur, who is waging that consumers will pay up to $100 annually for premium health services on the new website: www.RevolutionHealth.com. He is claiming to "remake" the health care system by including interactive chats, information, storing and maintaining personal health records (i.e. a one stop shop). Here is a link to the article.

I was so excited to read that article until I realised I dont get the wallstreet journal online! Internet sites have their advantages but there is also a big risk when it comes to health issues and not speaking with an actual physician. I am interested how this site expects to deliver quality services that its predecessor have not.
Hi, I have posted to full article on the blackboard discussion board website.
Ideas such as this website tend to make me nervous because of the fact that you are putting people who are not necessarily properly educated or informed in charge of making decisions for themselves that they may not be competant enough to make. I think that the idea is great for health promotion and prevention, because it makes useful, practical information available to the public for how they can live healthy lifestyles and precautions they can take to avoid damaging their health. However, when it comes to diagnosing themselves or deciding whether or not they should receive medical care, I think that these decisions are better left in the hands of the doctors who are trained and qualified to decide such things. There is a lot of misinformation that can get out there and effect people's decisions, and I think that in terms of healthcare this is not a reasonable risk.
